OWINGS MILLS/ COLUMBIA, Md.—Bonnie K. Heneson, founder and CEO of Bonnie Heneson Communications, received an Icon Honors award from The Daily Record. Icon Honors recognize Maryland business leaders over the age of 60 for their success and demonstration of leadership both within and outside of their fields.

Heneson has more than 40 years of experience in the marketing, communications and public relations field. In 1990, she founded Bonnie Heneson Communications, which has grown into a full-service communications firm with offices in Owings Mills and Columbia serving clients from a range of industries.

In addition, Heneson serves on the board of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, chairs the nominating committee and is past chair of the organization’s Distinguished Women’s Award event. She also serves on the board of the Jewish Museum of Maryland and chairs its marketing committee. Heneson is an active member of Executive Alliance, where she chairs the organization’s public relations committee.

Among her distinctions, Heneson received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Public Relations Society of America–Maryland Chapter in 2014. She is a three-time recipient of The Daily Record’s Top 100 Women Award and was inducted into the publication’s Circle of Excellence. She also received SmartCEO’s Brava! Award and The Center Club’s Trailblazer Award in 2012.

Heneson graduated from Goucher College in Towson and lives in Pikesville.
